I interviewed today for a sales position at Smart Toyota in Madison.

The interview went fantastic. I could tell that the job was in the bag. They said they'd call me to let me know.

I got a call an hour ago.

Their insurance company won't cover me, because I have 3 tickets in the past 5 years. Because of that, they cannot hire me.

Shit sucks. Time to be depressed.

That sucks.

I drove a 1st gen. Prius at that dealership. Did not trade in my '97 SHO.

A question - is there another job you could get at a car dealership until the points fall off your license? Do points fall off your license in WI?

Two were 5-10 over, one 11-15.

They said I have to be ticket-free for 3 years before they'd hire me.

Points do fall off. I have 0 points on my license right now.

The dealership said I would have to have no tickets for 3 years for the insurance company to be able to insure me.

That sucks!

Back in college, I managed to bag a job driving a tow truck part time ... until they couldn't insure me. My driving record was perfect, but I was too young. I needed to be 22, but they said they could stretch it if I was almost 22. Sadly, I had just turned 21 a couple weeks before that.

Find someone an independent company that will insure you, then reapproach?

Don't stop trying. It's worth a fight if you're under 30.

Have you tried other dealerships?
